Dive Agencies DSAT Looks to Broaden Tech’s Appeal, Evolve TecRec

Broadening the appeal of closed-circuit rebreathers and the evolution of DSAT’s TecRec program lead the topic’s at this week’s DSAT Tec Diving Conference, an invitation-only workshop/conference held this week in the U.S. for DSAT TecRec Instructors, Instructor Trainers and other tech diving industry.

According to the DSAT Chat blog:

(DSAT President) Drew Richardson opened the meeting and set the tone for the day by comparing technical diving to space exploration and identified how often recreational diving has benefited from advances made in technical diving. This theme was embellished by the next presenter, Mark Caney, who analysed trends in CCR development, looking in particular at what might be needed for this technology to be appropriate for recreational divers. …

Steve Mortell then led a discussion on specialty technical diving training, and outlined how these may be applied to TecRec courses. … James Morgan then looked at how the TecRec range of courses might evolve and, with Mark Caney, facilitated a lively discussion on future developments for the range.
