PADI’s DSAT technical diving division will host three roundtable forums in Thailand in April and June to gather suggestions and ideas on the future of the agency’s tech courses.

The forums, set to coincide with PADI Intructor Exams, will be held April 26 in Phuket, April 30 in Koh Tao and June 21 in Pattaya.

The roundtables follow on a session hosted at the rcent OZTeK 2009 show in Australia, where DSAT hosted two panel discussions: “CCRs: Tec or Rec?” and “The Dark Side of PADI: DSAT Technical Courses.” According to the DSAT’ Chat blog:

This OZTeK 09 forum was the first in a sequence of roundtable discussions planned for venues throughout the Asia Pacific Region in 2009.

The discussions at the forum focused on feedback from the field relating to the structure of the Tec Deep Diver course and a discussion of a proposed course revision built on these recommendations from the field. DSAT also announced a new opportunity for appropriately qualified and experienced DSAT trainers to create and submit DSAT Distinctive Specialties for technical training courses that are currently outside the scope of the DSAT Tec Deep and DSAT Tec Trimix.

Those interested in attending should e-mail DSAT Technical Consultant Alex Boulton at alex.boulton@padi.com.au.
